New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council

The Borough of Mountain Lakes in Morris County is primarily a residential lake community boasting a total of nine lakes within the boundaries of the municipality. Among other assets, the borough is known for its historic “Hapgood” homes as well as the two-mile long “Boulevard” walking path. Mountain Lakes is also conveniently located on New Jersey Transit's Montclair–Boonton Line with service to New York Penn Station.  In 2024, the Highlands Council approved a petition from the borough to bring the municipality into to conformance with the Highlands RMP.
