New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council

The Highlands Council is a 15-member appointed body tasked with implementation of the New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act of 2004. There are currently five vacancies on the Council. Appointments to the Highlands Council are overseen by the Appointments Office.

The Highlands Act specified the creation of the Council, outlining its membership, powers, duties and responsibilities (see sections C.13:20-4, 5, and 6 in the Act). The Council operates according to established Bylaws.
