Consider CSC's Intergovernmental Transfer Program. You may be able to find a vacancy in either a larger local government jurisdiction or a State Government agency that you can move to without losing your Civil Service status. You will need your current employer's permission to complete the transfer.

One way is to hire someone in your jurisdiction who already has permanent civil service status. Another way is to find someone who has civil service status working in another jurisdiction through CSC's Intergovernmental Transfer Program.

Through the Intergovernmental Transfer Program, you can begin work with another Civil Service jurisdiction without losing your permanent civil service status. You can do this up to one (1) year after the effective date of the layoff.
