Resilient NJ

Resilient NJ provides funding to eligible counties and groups of municipalities within those counties to undertake a comprehensive regional resilience planning process. The purpose of the planning process is to identify and address vulnerabilities to increased flood risk and other climate stressors and protection of environmental resources. The planning process includes public engagement of a wide range of stakeholders to ensure representation and participation from underserved and socially vulnerable populations, and to inform and guide the development of a resilience action plan for the participating communities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is allowing the State of New Jersey to use remaining disaster recovery funds from Superstorm Sandy to address Hurricane Ida disaster needs in the areas that were impacted by both disasters. This means the State can leverage unused Superstorm Sandy funding to help address Hurricane Ida needs in overlapping counties. These overlapping counties include Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset, and Union.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) administers Resilient NJ. For more information about the program and current projects, visit the Resilient NJ section on the NJDEP website.
