Overview:
The Office of Communications promotes the programs, polices and initiatives of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The Office coordinates all media inquiries for the agency, working with local, regional and national media daily.
Potential Areas of Internship for Students with the following Academic Majors: Communication, English, Journalism.
Position 1: Spanish language translation or bilingual communication intern
DCA is seeking internship applications from undergraduate students who are interested in Spanish language translation or bilingual communication.
The intern will support the DCA Office of Communications across internal and external communications projects, specializing in Spanish document translation, bilingual interpretation, and telephone assistance for Spanish-speaking constituents.
Candidates should have:
- Strong proficiency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
- Experience or coursework in translation, Spanish, linguistics, or bilingual communication.
- Basic to intermediate skills in Word and Excel (formatting, tables, layout).
- Ability to organize documents, follow formatting standards, and maintain version control.
- Proficiency in using project management and activity-planning software, such as Microsoft Planner.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
