With a congregation that was initially established in 1818, the 1885 First Baptist Church is the community's third church building. The original Gothic Revival style church received Sunday school additions in 1907 and 1915, as well as exterior remodeling in 1944 and the erection of a corner entrance tower.

The Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a preservation plan that will address the building's repair and restoration priorities, as the church begins to plan for its 200th anniversary.
