Cedar Brook Park was designed by the Olmsted Brothers in 1924 and largely completed by 1930. It was the third park to be completed out of the 26 parks within the Union County Park System and originally featured iris and orchid gardens and a dogwood arboretum. The Shakespeare Garden is a clearly defined, formally designed area in the northwest side of Cedar Brook Park. Originally, the garden contained plantings specifically named in Shakespeare’s works plus some 16th and 17th century varieties. Cedar Brook Park was listed on the New Jersey and National Registers in 2007.

The Trust grant helped fund a Preservation Plan for the Shakespeare Garden at Cedar Brook Park.
