The Cooper House is a 2.5 story post and beam dwelling that was constructed in three sections. The oldest portion is believed to be at the rear. The proposed Preservation Plan and archaeological investigation will determine if construction dates to the period (1769-1808) when the Moravians occupied Hope. The house was used primarily as a residence, and a beauty salon briefly occupied a front room of the house in the 1940s. The Cooper House is contributing to the Hope Historic District but is not mentioned individually. It is included in the historic district for its architectural integrity. The Hope Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is one of five Moravian communities in the United States and has 16 extant buildings from the time period. Hope contains one of the largest concentrations of Germanic-style architecture in the state

The 2025 Trust grant will help fund the preparation of a Preservation Plan and an archaeological investigation.
