The Westfield Fire Headquarters building was constructed in 1911 and has remained an active firehouse since its construction. It is currently occupied by the Westfield Fire Department. It is a two-story brick structure with a four-story side tower. The exterior is well proportioned and carefully detailed. Showing influences of Spanish, Italianate, and Mediterranean architecture, the Westfield Fire House is a fine example of twentieth century civic architecture. It is listed in the National Register for Historic Places for significance in the areas of architecture and politics/government.

Westfield Fire Headquarters serves as a reference property for a Municipal Planning Project which will impact the entire Town of Westfield. The first European settlers in what would become Westfield settled in 1699 and had formed a distinct community by 1720. The community was known as the West Fields of Elizabethtown. The Town of Westfield was incorporated on March 4, 1903, replacing Westfield Township. Downtown Westfield retains significant integrity as a nineteenth century commercial corridor that grew up around the commuter train line to New York City.

The 2022 Trust grant will help fund an intensive-level architectural survey and National Register nomination for a Downtown Westfield Historic District, and a Historic Preservation Master Plan Element for the Town of Westfield.
