Hollow Brook Preserve Bridge
Historic Site Management Grant
Grant Award: $13,073 (2025) Grant Recipient: Tewksbury Land Trust County: HunterdonMunicipality: Tewksbury Township
The Hollow Brook Preserve Bridge (aka Fairmount-Pottersville Road Bridge) is a single barrel stone arch bridge located on the former roadway of Fairmount Road E Based on the design and craftmanship, the bridge was likely built in the 4th quarter of the 19th century (1875-1899). Based on topographical maps and aerial views, the roadway appears to have been re-aligned and straightened between 1922-1930. This left the Hollow Brook Preserve Bridge abandoned. Because it was abandoned in the late 1920s, the bridge is unmodified by common roadway safety alterations that have affected other stone arch bridges in the county.
The 2025 Trust grant will help fund the preparation of a National Register nomination, condition assessment, and archaeological survey.
