Grant Recipient: Community House of Moorestown
County: Burlington
Municipality: Moorestown Township

The historic Community House of Moorestown was built in 1926 and designed by Philadelphia architects, Karcher & Smith, in the English Gothic style. Benefactor Eldridge Reeves Johnson, founder of the Victor Talking Machine Company, provided $250,000 for the building’s construction at the request of the Moorestown Women’s Club. Town residents simultaneously endowed a permanent maintenance fund by donating $106,000. The Moorestown Community House has been the community’s center for civic, social, and recreational activity since it opened in 1926.

The 2022 Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a Preservation Plan.
