The Westervelt-Vanderhoef House, located within Weasel Brook Park, received a Certificate of Eligibility from the NJ Historic Preservation Office on 7/31/2019.  The house is individually and locally significant under criterion C as an intact example of a mid-18th century/early-19th century vernacular, Dutch stone house.  Its date of construction is between 1721 and 1775.  HPO posits that the property may also be eligible for its associations with the Olmsted Brothers Firm, who designed Weasel Brook Park between 1930 and 1937, and for its potential to yield information regarding archaeology.  HPO has requested additional information on this and other items in order to more firmly understand the property’s history and significance.

The Trust grant helped fund a New Jersey and National Register nomination for the Westervelt-Vanderhoef House.
