Ayres' Farm, known locally as Ayres-Knuth Farm, is significant for its associations with the history of agriculture in New Jersey. Specifically, the site represents the shifts from early 19th century subsistence farming, the impacts of transportation on agriculture in the mid-to-late 19th century, and the early 20th century transition to family-run truck farming. It is considered one of the last intact farm complexes in Morris County and includes the main farmhouse, tenant house, outhouse, smoke house, two chicken coops, a garage, a barn, and carriage house/barn. Over 13 of the farm's original 52 acres have been preserved as recreational fields, while others are maintained by the Ayres Farm Foundation as a historic interpretive and archaeological site. Another large portion of the original acreage is sub-leased to a farmer, who continues to farm the land.

The 2023 Trust grant will help fund the stabilization, restoration, and rehabilitation of a circa 1925 garage.

The 2020 Trust grant will help fund construction and contract documents for rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the garage. The 2019 Trust grant helped fund the exterior rehabilitation and stabilization of the Tenant House. The 2018 Trust grant helped fund the preparation of design and construction documents for the Tenant House.
