This 70-acre property is significant as an intact example of a rural vernacular Dutch-framed 18th century building with 19th century additions as well as for its prehistoric and historic archaeological resources. It is one of the last remaining farms in North Brunswick and the only one that is being actively preserved. The farm was built in three major campaigns: John and Mary Allen Buckelew built the original house between 1746 and 1764; Obadiah and Abigail Buckelew inherited the house and added the 2-story, 3-bay Federal-style section in c. 1796; and James and Eliza Webb made additions to the south and east of the house in 1860-70, giving it the basic footprint it has today. The property includes a number of late-19th and early-20th century outbuildings including a storage shed, woodshed, two privies, wagon house, and corn crib.

The 2020 Trust grant will help fund a conditions survey, structural assessment, and construction documents for the Buckalew House and outbuildings. The 2018 Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a preservation plan and a National Register nomination.
