Cornelius Low became one of Raritan Landing’s most successful businessmen and traders in the early to mid-eighteenth century. His house, known as the Cornelius Low House, was built in 1741 on a bluff overlooking Raritan landing so that Low can oversee his warehouse and wharf. Low lived in the house with his family until his death in 1777. The Low House is one of two remaining structures from the old Raritan Landing and is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in all of New Jersey. Maintained by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, the Low House serves as an art and local history museum.

The 2023 Trust grant will help fund a Conditions Assessment Report.

A 1992 Trust grant helped fund repointing, repair of the wood shingle roof, repair of windows, restoration of original plaster molding and woodwork, and removal of oak flooring that covered the original random-width pine flooring.
