Ensley-Mount Buckalew House

Cultural Trust Historic Preservation Grants
Grant Award: $15,000 (2004)
Grant Recipient: Jamesburg Historical Society
County: Middlesex
Municipality: Jamesburg
The Ensley-Mount-Buckalew House is associated with the town’s namesake, James Buckalew, a regional leader in the fields of transportation, commerce, industry, agriculture, education and finance. The house, also known as Lakeview, exists virtually unaltered since the third quarter of the nineteenth century, and is a fine example of a vernacular Italianate-style residence.

The grant helped fund the stabilization of an exterior fieldstone foundation wall and the design of a water conduction system for the basement that will prevent future structural problems caused by water infiltration.
