Constructed during World War II, Millville Army Air Field is considered the nation’s first “defense airport", significant for its associations with military history and the development of air travel. The historic district contains sixteen buildings and two hangars. The advanced combat fighter training techniques provided at Millville made a significant contribution to the war effort.
Both grants helped fund historically accurate roof repair and replacement for the air field's exhibit buildings.
