Constructed in 1927 as a vaudeville theater in the Classical Revival style, the Ritz operated as a movie house until a performing arts group rented the facility in 1986. This landmark theater retains its original ticket booth and marquee as well as Neoclassical-style murals in the auditorium. Now a popular adult and children’s theater venue, the theater company purchased the building in 2003 and entertains 70,000 patrons annually.
The 2004 grant helped fund the replacement of the roof on the main building.
The 2007 grant helped fund the restoration of the main doors on the facade, including recreating their metallic finish, and adding an automatic door to improve physical access to the theater.
