Tulipwood is notable for its Colonial Revival architecture and was likely designed in 1892 by architect, J. August Lienau, son of the famed Danish architect Detlaf Lienau.

The grant helped stabilize the front porch, restoring it to use. The house will eventually be used as a living history museum and leased for special events.
