Historic Site Management Grant
Grant Award: $50,000 (2005); $750,000 (2006)
Grant Recipient: Harding Township
County: Morris
Municipality: Harding Township

Glen Alpin was constructed as the country estate of Henry Holt c. 1840. The building is one of the best remaining examples of Gothic Revival cottage architecture in New Jersey. The house exemplifies the Picturesque Style popularized throughout the United States by Andrew Jackson Downing and A. J. Davis during the mid-19th century. Currently vacant, the township is exploring new uses for the building and site.

The 2006 Trust grant helped fund exterior restoration work to the clay tile roof, 116 windows, exterior doors and wood trim, and electrical upgrades. The work was guided by a previously funded preservation plan.
