Kearny Cottage
Grant Award: $17,383 (1991) Grant Recipient: City of Perth Amboy County: MiddlesexMunicipality: City of Perth Amboy
Constructed in 1781, Kearny Cottage is a rare surviving example of an eighteenth- century vernacular residence in urban Perth Amboy. Once home to the successful and influential Kearney family, the cottage has since served as Perth Amboy's sole museum and repository for local historical memorabilia since the 1920s.
The Trust grant funded roof replacement with historically appropriate cedar shakes to arrest water infiltration. The cottage continues to be used as a historic house museum.
