The Landing Railroad station is an example of the Tudor Revival/Jacobean style, and was designed to integrate the Morris Canal and rail travel. Although built during a time when the cargo shipping use of the Canal was waning, the station was designed to utilize the canal for passenger access to Lake Hopatcong, which at the time was a major summer resort.

The 2020 Trust grant will help fund restoration of the building proper and restore important site features between the building and the railroad cut. Specifically, restoration of the cast-stone and iron fence with its built-in cast stone water fountain. The 2017 Trust grant helped fund rehabilitation of train station’s interior and restoration of its windows and doors. The 2015 Trust grant helped fund restoration of train station’s distinctive green glazed tile roof and parapet. The work is based on the priority recommendations of a preservation plan. Once restored, the station building will become a cultural and community center and provide visitor information.
