Paterson City Hall
Grant Award: $405,597 (1993) Grant Recipient: City of Paterson County: PassaicMunicipality: Paterson
Carrere and Hastings, the New York architectural firm that designed the New York Public Library and many other notable public buildings, designed Paterson City Hall in 1894. The City Hall is an outstanding and well-preserved example of the Beaux Arts style of architecture, and it remains a prominent visual element in Paterson, a reminder of the city's rich civic and industrial history.
The Trust grant helped fund the restoration of the ornate interior public spaces, reconstruction of missing historic entrance doors, conservation of three statues in the plaza outside the entrance, preservation of stained glass windows, and improvements for modern use.
