St. Joseph's Catholic Church is an outstanding example of Neoclassical ecclesiastical architecture designed by the Philadelphia architect, George I. Lovatt. The church was built in New Hampshire granite in 1913 for the Polish community in South Camden. Interior walls, moldings and columns in the church are covered by decorative faux finishes and polychromatic stencils and painting. The church, which remains the meeting place of Camden County's Polish ethnic community, is a prominent landmark in its Southern Camden neighborhood.

The 2002 grant aided the exterior restoration of the church and helped prevent further deterioration and loss of critical architectural elements. Work included repairs to the copper cupolas and cornices, structural repairs, masonry restoration, and exterior wood repairs.

The 2001 Trust grant helped fund a preservation plan and preparation of a National Register nomination. The preservation plan was used to guide repair and restoration work.
