Upper Bellemont Farm
Historic Site Managment Grant
Grant Award: $48,716 (2006) Grant Recipient: Mercer County Division of Planning County: MercerMunicipality: Hopewell
The major surviving historic structure at Upper Bellemont Farm is a barn dating from the second half of the eighteenth century. In addition to its architectural significance, the barn is also significant for its association with two important New Jersey families – the Coxes and the Stouts. The site has also been identified as having high potential for archaeological resources.
The grant helped fund the preparation of a feasibility study for potential future use of the building, as well as programming options, funding sources, and partnering possibilities. Work also included the preparation of a heritage tourism plan that builds upon the results of the feasibility study.
