Executive Director

Dr. Bernice Davis is the Executive Director of the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI). In this capacity she is responsible for the overall administration and operations of CBVI, the single state authority charged with providing education, vocational rehabilitation, independent living, assistive technology, and eye-health services for the estimated 259,000 residents of the state, who are blind, deaf-blind or visually impaired.

Dr. Davis joined CBVI in 2005 and has held various roles, including Acting Executive Director and Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. In these positions, she played a key role in community outreach, compliance with state and federal regulations, and strategic collaborations to improve services for CBVI consumers.

Before her tenure at CBVI, Dr. Davis worked at the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities, where she served as the Assistant Chief Executive Officer at the North Jersey Developmental Center (NJDC). She was responsible for overseeing residential services and providing support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her prior experience at NJDC also included roles in professional and residential services and clinical psychology.

Dr. Davis holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (1993) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Psychology with a minor in Anthropology from Loyola University of Chicago. She is a licensed psychologist and a certified American Management Associate, bringing over 24 years of clinical and administrative expertise to her work.
