The Division of Engineering is responsible for monitoring the general reliability of the regulated electric, gas, water, and wastewater utilities in the State of New Jersey and ensuring that they meet the Board’s performance standards. The Division evaluates large utility infrastructure investments to determine prudency in base rate cases and reviews proposed Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP), Distribution System Improvement Charge (DSIC) and Wastewater System Improvement Charge (WSIC) filings for their effect on system performance and for compliance with their respective regulations in the New Jersey Administrative Code. In addition, the Division reviews municipal consent filings, citing of utility infrastructure, and vegetation management matters. Furthermore, the Division investigates customer complaints regarding service extensions, service interruptions, safety and quality of service issues.
