Identity Matching Updates in ID Management

On the evening of June 12, NJSLEDS updated the way student and staff records are matched against the ID Master. These changes improve longitudinal data matching and reduce the number of field change requests districts need to submit.

What Changed for Student Records

  • City of Birth and Country of Birth are no longer used in identity matching. These fields have also been removed from the Student (SID) Field Change Request form. This change is permanent.
  • Through June 30, 2026, mismatches in Middle Name and Gender will no longer send records to Unresolved. Matching on these fields resumes with the new school year.

What Changed for Staff Records

  • Through June 30, 2026, mismatches in Middle Name and Sex will no longer send records to Unresolved. Matching on these fields resumes with the new school year. No fields were removed from the Staff (SMID) Field Change Request form.

What This Means for Your District

If you have records in Unresolved where the only mismatch is one of the fields above, you no longer need a change request to clear them. Reupload your submission file from your local source system and the records will process. Please confirm your records have cleared ahead of the End of Year Snapshot on June 30.

If you submitted a field change request for City of Birth or Country of Birth that has not yet been processed, please reupload the records to continue processing. Once records are out of the Unresolved status, please check for any field-level errors and continue to resolve by the End of Year Snapshot on June 30.
