System Updates: Record-Level Error Visibility and Course Roster Fixes
Published April 13, 2026 · Deployed April 10, 2026
IT deployments for the following updates were completed by 5:22 p.m. on April 10, 2026. This release includes three changes: improved visibility of record-level error statuses in the Submission Records Report, a fix to a Course Type validation error on the Student Course Roster submission and an update to Out of Sync validation logic for students who change schools mid-year.
Record-Level Error Visibility in the Submission Records Report
Record-level error statuses are now displayed in the Submission Records Report for Student Management, Staff Management and Staff Vacancy submissions. Previously, these statuses existed in NJSLEDS but were not surfaced at the record level.
These are not new errors. They are existing statuses that are now visible where you can see and act on them. You may see statuses appear on records that were previously unresolved.
Newly Visible Statuses
| Submission | Statuses Now Displayed |
|---|---|
| Student Management | Duplicate, Sync, Unresolved, Transfer Request, Transfer Requested, Transfer Waiting, Transfer Approved |
| Staff Management | Duplicate, Sync, Unresolved |
| Staff Vacancy | Duplicate, RecordID statuses |
What to Do
Review the Submission Records Report for your Student Management, Staff Management and Staff Vacancy submissions. Address any records flagged with these statuses using your standard resolution workflow (ID Management, correction in your source system and re-upload, or other applicable action based on the status).
Course Type Validation Error Resolved — Student Course Roster
A Student Course Roster validation error related to Course Type was triggering in cases where it should not have. The error description displayed to districts was:
“When Course Type is S1, the student’s course must be assigned to exactly one Staff Course Roster record for the same Subject Area and Course Identifier.”
The business rule has been removed from NJSLEDS as of 5:22 p.m. on April 10, 2026. The rule is being revisited and may be reintroduced in a revised form at a later date.
What to Do
- Re-upload your Student Course Roster file to NJSLEDS. Once re-uploaded, the Course Type error will no longer appear on affected records.
- You do not need to make any changes in your source system before re-uploading.
- If you already made changes in your source system in response to this error, those changes can remain in place.
Out of Sync Validation Updated for Student Movement — CTE and Course Roster
Out of Sync validation logic for the CTE, Student Course Roster and Staff Course Roster submissions has been updated to account for students who move between schools during the school year. Previously, validation only checked current enrollment, which caused Out of Sync errors when a student changed schools mid-year even though the historical record was accurate.
What to Do
Re-upload affected CTE, Student Course Roster and Staff Course Roster files to clear Out of Sync errors caused by mid-year student movement.
Key Reminders
- The Course Type and Out of Sync fixes require district action — re-upload the affected files to clear errors.
- The record-level visibility enhancement does not require a re-upload. It changes what you see, not what is stored.
- If you are uncertain whether a status on a record is new or pre-existing, work through your standard resolution workflow for that status type.
