System Updates: ID Management Display Fix and Student Management Last Name Handling

Published June 26, 2026 · Deployed June 24 and 25, 2026

Recent deployments include two updates that affect district reporting: a restored display cue in ID Management for Staff Management, and a fix to how Student Management handles the last name Null.

Red Highlight Restored for SMID Mismatches (ID Management, Staff Management)

In ID Management for Staff Management, the red highlight that flags when a Staff Master Identifier (SMID) differs from the record you submitted was not appearing. This cue has been restored.

The highlight helps you confirm you are working with the correct staff member during reconciliation by clearly marking any record where the matched SMID does not match the value you submitted.

What to Do

No re-upload is needed. This is a display fix, and the highlight will appear automatically the next time you work in ID Management.

Students With the Last Name Null Can Now Be Reported (Student Management)

Some students have the last name Null. Student Management was treating “Null” as a missing value rather than a valid last name, which kept these records from being reported. As of June 24, 2026, “Null” is accepted as a last name and these students can be reported.

What to Do

If your district has a student whose last name is “Null” and the record has not yet been reported, re-upload it to NJSLEDS. No change is needed in your local source system. If the student belongs in your End of Year Snapshot, re-upload before the snapshot deadline.

Key Reminders

  • The ID Management highlight requires no re-upload. It changes what you see, not what is stored.
  • The Null last name fix requires no source system change. If an affected record has not been reported, re-upload it.
