Office of Licensure


The licensure office has developed guidelines to assist institutions in completing and submitting the licensure petition and new academic degree programs. It is recommended that prior to submitting a licensure petition, institutions review the guidelines and prompts below.

Before beginning preparation of a petition, please review the included licensure rules in New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C.) Title 9A – Higher Education. A petition for licensure should be as factual and data-based as possible, providing concisely and explicitly all of the information and evidence necessary to demonstrate that the institution, proposed college credit bearing courses and/or academic degree program(s) meet the licensure standards stipulated in New Jersey Administrative Code 9A – Higher Education.
