Rapid Legal Response Initiative
In response to growing legal needs associated with immigration detention and enforcement activity, The Office of New Americans, in partnership with Seton Hall University, is launching the Rapid Legal Response Initiative to expand statewide legal capacity for emergency immigration defense matters, including habeas corpus petitions and other federal litigation.
The initiative will focus on:
- Recruiting and training attorneys;
- Expanding emergency legal support capacity; and
- Coordinating rapid legal response efforts statewide.

People directly impacted by immigration detention who need legal services should use the DDDI referral form. After completing an intake, DDDI providers may connect or refer the case to the Rapid Legal Response Initiative attorneys when the legal needs may benefit from the initiative's assistance.
