Legal Representation for Children and Youth Program
The Office of New Americans supports the Legal Services for Children and Youth Program in partnership with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), which administers the program and works with legal service providers to offer free legal counsel and social services coordination to immigrant children and youth (under age 21) who live in New Jersey. Children and youth who arrived as unaccompanied minors or who currently face immigration court hearings independently of their family may qualify for free legal assistance.
The New Jersey Consortium for Immigrant Children is responsible for responding to client inquiries and connecting potential clients with attorneys and social workers. Individuals seeking immigration legal assistance for an unaccompanied child or youth under age 21 can call 201-305-9217 or complete an online referral form for an eligibility assessment.
