The Fingerprint Approval Retrieval Application (FARA) allows users to retrieve notifications for applicants fingerprinted for certain programs by the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) or the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Important: Any unauthorized review, use, access, or distribution by a third party is strictly prohibited.
Before You Begin
To access FARA, you will need:
- Internet Explorer version 11 (required) – technical support is not provided for obtaining Internet Explorer 11.
- For recently fingerprinted applicants:
- TCN (see How to Find the TCN)
- Contributor case number
- Fingerprint date from the IdentoGo by Idemia receipt
Frequently Asked Questions
- For newly fingerprinted applicants: Visit the IdentoGo website, click Check the Status of your Service, select UE ID / Date of Birth, and enter the required information. The TCN will be displayed—write it down for future reference.
- For archived applicants: The most recent TCN is listed on the completed IdentoGo by IDEMIA archive spreadsheet.
The contributor’s case number (also called a cert number, center ID number, or cost code number) is the unique number assigned to your agency, usually issued by your program’s licensing entity.
Results remain available for two years (730 days) from the applicant’s print date. After two years, the applicant must be reprinted.
Possible reasons include:
- The applicant is under 18 years old.
- Incorrect entry in one of the fields (print date, contributor’s case number, or TCN).
- Attempting to use a UE ID number in the TCN field (see How to Find the TCN).
- Not using Internet Explorer 11.
- Results not yet available (can take up to 10 business days).
- Results not approved for retrieval from FARA.
- The program/agency is not affiliated with ECCU.
If an applicant was previously fingerprinted under a different name, FARA does not automatically update name changes. Contact the Employment Controls and Compliance Unit (ECCU) for an updated copy.
For archived applicants, the process date is shown in the process column of the completed IdentoGo by Idemia spreadsheet.
Fingerprint processing is not done in batches. Even with the same fingerprint date, factors in the background check process can delay individual results. If results are still unavailable after 10 business days. Contact Us for questions about FARA.
