Veterans
We believe that those who stood first in line to defend our country should be first in line to reap the benefits of freedom: a fair chance for a good education, a good job, and a good life.
Veterans receive first priority referral to all job and training opportunities for which they qualify.
Veterans receive priority referral to all job and training opportunities for which they are qualified through NJDOL’s network of American Job Centers and partner programs. This priority applies to all veterans, including those who may not be eligible for individualized case management services from Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) staff.
Whether you are a self‑service veteran exploring options on your own or were referred to NJDOL by a federal partner such as Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) or the Employment Navigator & Partnership Program (ENPP), your first step is to complete an eligibility screen and register with NJDOL. Registration connects you to job matching, training referrals, and, when appropriate, specialized services from JVSG staff.
Through the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) Jobs for Veterans State Grants program, dedicated NJDOL staff help Eligible Veterans, Eligible Persons, and authorized Additional Populations secure suitable employment and training opportunities using proven, individualized methods. JVSG staff provide the following and additional support:
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of skills, barriers, and career goals.
- Develop a tailored Individual Employment Plan that outlines clear steps to your chosen career.
- Establish job readiness through resume assistance, interview preparation, targeted training for skills gaps, and certifications aligned with employer demand.
- Assist with applications, referrals to employers or training providers, and solicit feedback to enhance your job search outcome.
