State Police Arrest Two for the Disposal of a Body in Southampton

Southampton Township, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police have arrested Daniel Waterfield, 53, of Lawnside, N.J. and Amanda Seth, 35, of Camden, N.J., for disposing of the body of Kerri Stetser, 36, of Paulsboro, N.J., on the side of a road in Southampton Township, Burlington County.

On Wednesday, October 31, at 7:40 p.m., a passerby discovered a body on the berm of Purgatory Road near the intersection of State Highway 70. When troopers and EMS arrived, they rendered first aid to the victim, but were unable to resuscitate her. She was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Troop "C" Criminal Investigation Office, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Homicide South Unit were initially unable to identity the victim because she was not carrying identification. They were subsequently able to use a fingerprint to identify her.

Through various investigative means, State Police detectives were able to develop Waterfield and Seth as suspects. Investigators determined that on October 31, Kerri Stetser overdosed in Waterfield's vehicle. Waterfield then contacted Seth, who aided in the disposal of the body on the side of the road where she was later discovered.

On Thursday, November 1, detectives located Waterfield and Seth in Camden where they were arrested without incident. Daniel Waterfield and Amanda Seth were charged with desecration of human remains and evidence tampering. Waterfield was lodged at the Burlington County Jail pending a bail detention hearing and Seth was released pending a court appearance.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
