Social Media Tips Lead to Arrest of Man for Shoplifting and Additional Charges

Mount Holly Township, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police have arrested Jamal Boone, 46, of Middlesex, N.J., for allegedly shoplifting from a ShopRite in Hainesport Township, Burlington County.

On Wednesday, September 9, we asked for the public’s assistance with identifying a man who stole several items from the Hainesport ShopRite on August 8.  Shortly after, the suspect was approached by a State Trooper in the parking lot of a Wawa when he fled across Route 38 into a wooded area.

As a result of our social media post, detectives received tips identifying Boone as the suspect and provided information on his whereabouts.  On Saturday, September 12, troopers located and arrested Boone without incident at a residence in Mount Holly.

Jamal Boone was charged with shoplifting, eluding, obstruction of administrative law, obstructing highways and other public passage, terroristic threats, criminal trespass, false imprisonment, and criminal restraint.

He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.

Thank you to all who took the time to share our post!

Charges are mere accusations and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
