of Waste & Underground Storage Tank (UST) Compliance and
Enforcement
The Division of Waste & UST Compliance and Enforcement includes three Bureaus that monitor compliance statewide. Those Bureaus, and their respective specialized units, include the following:
Hazardous Waste Compliance and Enforcement - Enforces the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) in New Jersey. This Bureau also includes the Transportation Oversight Unit for conducting roadside inspections of waste haulers and the Vehicle Registration Unit for transporters of solid waste, medical waste, and hazardous waste.
Solid Waste Compliance and Enforcement - Undertakes compliance and enforcement activities to ensure that solid waste is collected, transported and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner and in a competitive marketplace.
UST Compliance and Enforcement - Inspects Underground Storage Tanks within the state and enforces UST regulations. Administers the UST Certification program and monitors compliance by the licensed individuals.
