High Priority Notice: NJSLEDS Account Security Policy

As a reminder, NJSLEDS user accounts are individual and confidential.

Sharing credentials — including:

  • Logging in as someone else
  • Allowing someone to log in as you
  • Using another person’s authorization code
  • Sharing a myNJ account to access NJSLEDS

is a direct violation of state data security policy and may result in revoked access, disabled accounts, and formal data breach investigations.

Why This Matters

All NJSLEDS user activity — including file uploads, submissions, error reports, and data views — is tied to the individual account logged in. If someone accesses the system using your credentials and makes an error, shares PII, or leaks student data, that activity is recorded as yours.

Let’s say another user logs into your account and mistakenly uploads a file with sensitive student information — your name is the one on record for the breach.

This is not just a system policy — this is a FERPA-protected data security rule that protects students, staff, and you.

What If You Don’t Have Your Account Yet?

We know some users have not yet received their credentials. If your information was submitted before the August 15 deadline and you have not yet received an authorization code, you are in the next round of account creation and we are working as fast as possible to finalize those.

We understand the urgency and apologize for the frustration — you will receive your credentials as soon as humanly possible. There is no need to resubmit your name or use another person’s login in the meantime.

Here’s What You Can Do While You Wait

  • Work with your district team to review NJSLEDS training materials
  • Prepare your data files based on the handbooks and templates on the User Resources page
  • Review common error messages and FAQs so you're ready to hit the ground running

Bottom Line

  • No sharing logins
  • No sharing myNJ accounts
  • No using another user’s authorization code

If your account is still pending, we promise it’s coming. In the meantime, do not compromise system security — for your sake or your district’s.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
