Governmental Integrity Unit

The Governmental Integrity Unit conducts confidential character and criminal background investigations for the Offices of the Governor as well as the Office of the Attorney General on potential governmental appointees on various positions within the New Jersey State Government.

These positions include, but are not limited to, cabinet members, judicial appointments or reappointments, board of public utilities, state parole board, pre-employment, and appointments to the Casino Control Commission. More specifically, these investigations focus on positions in which honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness are essential to the candidates’ ability to discharge their professional responsibilities.

Additionally, the Governmental Integrity Unit is charged with the responsibility of conducting, three-way investigations, four-way confidential background investigations for state college campus police officers, railroad police officers, and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) officers.
