The Senior Freeze property tax reimbursement program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for increased property tax rates or mobile home park site fees on their principal residence. You will get the difference between your first year of eligibility (base year) property tax amount and the current year property tax amount, as long as the current year is higher than the base year and you meet all other eligibility requirements.
Senior Freeze applications must be submitted by Oct. 31, 2024 in order to qualify for the Tax Year 2023 reimbursement. As a reminder, qualifying residents have the option to apply online. The direct online filing service created by the Department of the Treasury is designed to improve the speed, convenience, and accuracy of the filing process for Senior Freeze recipients. Applicants can access the online filing portal. More information on how to obtain an application and eligibility requirements are available on the Division of Taxation's Property Tax Relief webpage.
We created these marketing tools to make it easier for our valued partners - employers, government agencies, nonprofits – to join us in a concerted effort to raise awareness about this program.
We want every person who is eligible to receive this benefit so they can continue to call New Jersey "home".
