The Stay NJ program offers property tax benefits to eligible homeowners. The Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations Act, signed on June 30, 2026, provides for additional 2026 Stay NJ benefits relating to the 2024 Tax Year, plus benefits to be paid in Fiscal Year 2027 for the current 2025 Tax Year application.
We have begun issuing 2025 payments to qualified applicants. Paper checks continue to be issued on a rolling basis.

New Jersey contracts with a private collection company to collect overdue taxes (deficiencies) and outstanding returns (delinquencies). The Division's new collection agency is Coast Professional, Inc.
We are modernizing our tax-filing system through a multi-phased approach. Phase 1 tax filing and payment systems are now available through the NJ Tax Portal.

New Jersey Division of Taxation Director
Marita R. Sciarrotta, a career public servant, was confirmed as Director of the New Jersey Division of Taxation on June 30, 2025. She has served as Acting Director since September 25, 2023.
