The New Jersey State Police does not offer counseling services; however, assistance is available from the following organizations and agencies:

The Women's Referral Central Hotline provides comprehensive information, referrals, active listening, and crisis response for issues confronting New Jersey residents, including but not limited to:

  • Child Care
  • Discrimination
  • Displaced Homemaker
  • Divorce
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Job Training
  • Legal Assistance
  • Single Parenting
  • Social Services

Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies

The Child Care Resource and Referral agencies, or CCR&Rs, administer the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) which helps income-eligible parents who are working, in school or training to pay for child care.

Located in every county, CCR&Rs have trained staff to provide information on the:

  • Availability of child care services provided through the Child Care Assistance Program;
  • Different types of child care providers; and
  • Other social service programs for which you may be eligible.

Displaced Homemaker Program
The Displaced Homemaker Programs provide training and employment-related services for individuals who worked in the home for many years and through the death, disablement, or divorce of a spouse finds themselves as the primary source of household income. Displaced Homemakers programs are designed to enhance employability and create new job opportunities.

New Jersey One-Stop Career Centers
The doors at the One-Stop Career Centers are open for walk-in visits for career support services only. You can make an appointment for in-person career counseling.

New Jersey's One-Stop Career Centers offer the most services and provide the most direction for jobseekers. They are staffed with qualified employment counselors to provide guidance for jobseekers. Other services offered at these locations include:

  • job search assistance
  • training and education assistance
  • specialized services
  • on-site resource rooms (PCs, telephones, etc.)

Hispanic Women’s Resource Centers
NJ Division on Women provides funding to the Latino Action Network to support Hispanic Women’s Resource Centers (HWRCs). The HWRCs are direct service programs that help enhance the workforce development skills and increase the employability of Hispanic women. The Centers and programs emphasize activities which provide training and other employment related services which are designed to enhance the employability and earnings of Hispanic women and impact on the quality of their lives and those of their families.

Services

  • English language classes; education assistance; computer classes.
  • Resume writing, interviewing skills, referrals and job search assistance.
  • Career counseling, financial planning, child-care, immigration assistance and other supportive services.
