1997 New Jersey Aviation Conference
"Aviation means business - for you"

MEDIA ADVISORY

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the theme for the 1997 New Jersey Aviation Conference: Aviation Means Business -- For You.

The annual conference is sponsored by the NJDOT’s Division of Aeronautics and AERO New Jersey, and will be held at McGuire Air Force Base, Officer’s Club, Wrightstown, NJ, at 8:00 AM on May 14, 1997.

Transportation Commissioner John J. Haley, Jr. will give the opening remarks at 8:40 AM on May 14th.

Aeronautics Division Director John S. Penn announced that Henry M. "Hank" Rowan, President of Inductotherm Industries, Inc., of Rancocas, NJ, will be the luncheon speaker. Inductotherm is one of New Jersey’s prime examples of how aviation can work to improve business and spur economic development. Hank Rowan is a jet pilot who uses aircraft daily in support of his business activities.

"We’re pleased to have Commissioner Haley and Hank Rowan as the featured speakers," said Director Penn. "Additionally, marketing expert Olive McShane of Department of Commerce and Economic Development and Ed Simpson of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, will provide business improvement tips to operators of flight schools, maintenance and repair shops, and other aviation related businesses."

Updates on general aviation issues will be discussed during an afternoon panel discussion involving aviation experts from all segments of the industry. Throughout the day, aviation-related businesses will exhibit their products at the conference. The program will be capped by an aviation safety briefing from the Air Force and a tour of the new air traffic control tower at McGuire. Developing ties with educational institutions in order to introduce a new customer base to aviation will end the business portion of the program.

Registration is from 8 to 8:40 AM at the Officers Club. The cost of the conference is $24 which includes lunch, coffee breaks, and light refreshments at an afternoon reception. Those interested in attending can call 609-530-2080 for further information.
