NJDOT to Readopt Rules
on Rail Freight and Soil Erosion

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is proposing to readopt with minor amendments its rules governing preservation of rail freight service in the state, and soil erosion and soil control standards as they pertain to roadway construction projects. The regulations are found at N.J.A.C. 16:53C and N.J.A.C. 16:25A respectively. Both sets of rules are scheduled to expire on May 13, 1998.

In addition, the NJDOT is proposing an amendment to the State Highway Access Management Code found at N.J.A.C. 16:47. The amendment will better conform access levels to the anticipated land use patterns, highway function, speed limit and traffic characteristics along Route 206 in Bedminster.

The proposed readoption of both sets of rules and the proposed amendment to the State Highway Access Management Code are scheduled to be published in the New Jersey Register today. The public has until March 4, 1998 to comment on this proposal.

Comments should be directed in writing to Renee Rapciewicz, Deputy Administrative Practice Officer, NJDOT, 1035 Parkway Avenue, CN 600, Trenton, New Jersey, 08625-0600; Fax (609) 530-3841.
