NJDOT to open new Route 48 bridge over Game Creek in Carneys Point

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the new Route 48 Bridge over Game Creek in Carneys Point, Salem County will open to traffic on Monday, June 26.

The bridge opening is taking place seven months ahead of the original schedule.

“Maintaining mobility on the Route 48 Bridge is important for the future growth and economic vitality of Salem County,” said Kolluri. “By delivering the project a full seven months ahead of schedule NJDOT is continuing to improve the quality of life for New Jersey residents.”

The $1.4 million project began in January 2007. NJDOT replaced two functionally deficient bridges with new structures carrying Route 48 over the Game Creek in Carneys Point. NJDOT also upgraded the roadway approaches of each bridge.
