RELEASE: November 17, 2008

NJDOT reopens Thompson Avenue
bridge over Route 22 in Bridgewater

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today reopened Thompson Avenue northbound over Route 22 in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County.

On Monday, November 17, NJDOT reopened Thompson Avenue to two-way traffic in Bridgewater Township. NJDOT has completed the $1.4 million replacement of the deteriorated Thompson Avenue bridge deck over Route 22.

The Department constructed the project in stages in order to maintain southbound Thompson Avenue traffic throughout construction. Thompson Avenue northbound traffic used a local detour route since May.

Single-lane closures may take place on Route 22 through December 2008 in order to paint the bridge and remove the temporary construction shielding.

NJDOT will install variable message signs on Route 22 to inform motorists of traffic pattern changes closures. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.511nj.org.
