Route 73 ramp closure announced in Maple Shade

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the upcoming closure of the Route 73 southbound ramp to Route 41 southbound in Maple Shade.

On Monday, June 13, NJDOT is scheduled to close the Route 73 southbound ramp to Route 41 southbound for reconstruction work. This ramp is expected to remain closed to traffic for approximately two weeks.

• Route 73 southbound motorists destined for Route 41 southbound will continue to Route 38 westbound to the loop-ramp for Route 41 southbound.

The ramp reconstruction work is part of an $18 million project to increase safety and reduce congestion throughout this stretch of Route 73. NJDOT is constructing an additional travel lane in each direction from south of Fellowship Road/Fox Meadow Drive to East Main Street/Camden Avenue (CR 537) and realigning and widening the Route 73 and Fellowship Road/Fox Meadow Drive interchange to provide new dedicated turning lanes. The drainage system will be upgraded and new traffic signals will be installed at the Main Street/Camden Avenue exit ramps as well.

The CR 537/Main Street Bridge has been closed to traffic since March 15 and will remain closed until August 2011.

The state-funded project is anticipated for completion in spring 2012.
