Route 1 shifted over Heathcote Brook
in South Brunswick
(Trenton) - Route 1 northbound was shifted over the Heathcote Brook in South Brunswick on Friday night, June 24.
NJDOT’s contractor, Mount Construction Inc., shifted both Route 1 northbound travel lanes to the right (east) over the Heathcote Brook and established a new construction zone in the center of the highway. Route 1 southbound remains in place.
The work is part of an on-going, $2.3 million state-funded project that is replacing the Heathcote Brook culvert and stabilizing the supporting soil under the foundation footings and abutments.
NJDOT will employ variable message signs to notify motorists of all traffic pattern changes on Route 1. Construction is scheduled for completion in late-fall 2011.
The precise timing of the work mentioned in this advisory is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
