NJDOT to resurface roadways in Sussex
and Warren counties

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation today announced the start of a maintenance resurfacing project that will improve over 20 miles of roadway along five state highways in Sussex and Warren counties.

Beginning this week motorists may encounter temporary single-lane closures and alternating traffic patterns in both directions on Route 23 in Hardyston Township during overnight hours.

The $8.7 million resurfacing project will also address sections of Route 22 in Phillipsburg, Route 23 in Sussex and Wantage boroughs, Route 46 in the townships of White, Liberty and Independence, Route 94 in Hamburg, Hardyston and Vernon and Route 182 in Hackettstown.

Construction activities on each roadway will be done during off-peak and overnight hours with single lane closures. On sections of highway that carry one lane in each direction, alternating traffic patterns will be used, as on Route 23 in Hardyston. No detours will be necessary at any location.

The roadway maintenance project includes milling and paving the roadway, electrical upgrades, and installing traffic markings, guide rail and new curbing within the project areas.

Project completion for all the routes is scheduled for this fall.
